A couple from Pune were injured in a road mishap on the NH66 highway at Poraskade-Pernem on Friday afternoon.
According to Pernem police, the incident took place as Shailesh and Shravani Sato were travelling from Pune to Goa in a car.
As their car reached near the ongoing flyover construction site, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car first rammed into an electricity pole off the highway, causing the pole to snap. Despite this impact, the car continued to veer off the road, plunging into a low-lying, overgrown area, causing multiple injuries to the couple.
They were transported via a '108' ambulance and they opted to undergo treatment at a private hospital in Mapusa.
Pernem ASI Abhay Palayekar is conducting further investigations into the incident.
Just last week, an electricity pole at this very same location was knocked down after a truck driver lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle rammed into the pole.
