Residents of Dulbhanagar and Costi in Sanvordem are reeling under severe hardship following a major disruption in water supply over the past several days. The situation has deteriorated to the point where villagers are dependent on tanker water, receiving barely a few buckets of water each, making daily survival increasingly difficult.
Locals said that despite repeated assurances under schemes such as “Har Ghar Jal,” the ground reality remains grim, with supply continuing to be irregular and grossly inadequate. Villagers alleged that while large-scale development is being projected, even basic drinking water needs are not being met.
The disruption is reportedly linked to issues in the pipeline network and pumping system. For nearly 45 days, residents have been managing with scarce tanker supply. Women and elderly residents are among the worst affected, struggling to meet daily household requirements with minimal water. Villagers said that the supply, though occasionally provided, is neither sufficient nor consistent, forcing many to wait for hours or travel long distances in search of water. Wells in the area have either dried up or yield very little water.
Urging authorities to act immediately, residents have demanded a reliable and continuous water supply. They warned that failure to resolve the issue could lead to intensified protests.
