The private bus operators have decided to hold a one-day protest over the government’s unwillingness to fulfil their long-pending demands.
The protest will be held outside the Transport Department’s office on March 26, the day the budget will be presented.
Speaking to reporters at Kadamba Plateau on Sunday, All Goa Private Bus Owners Association’s general secretary, Sudip Tamankar, informed that their demands for a fuel subsidy, an insurance subsidy, and others have not been fulfilled by the government.
“And we were hopeful that the demands would be fulfilled and a budgetary allocation for the same would be made. But when we met CM Pramod Sawant, he refused to fulfil our demands, and no budgetary allocation was made,” Tamankar informed.
“In light of this, we held a meeting of the private bus owners and decided to hold a one-day protest outside the Transport Department’s office in Panaji,” Tamankar said.
“It looks like the government is hell-bent on finishing our business, due to which it does not want to fulfil our genuine demands,” Tamankar added, while stating that they remain hopeful that the government will come out with some solution to the issue.
