Land owners who are aggrieved with their private land holdings being demarcated as private forests will now get the opportunity to file their objections but will have to do it latest by October 15.

Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate said, land owners from across the State whose holdings have either been partially or wholly demarcated as private forests in government records and feel it is erroneous should file their objections before the Joint Secretary (Revenue) at the State Secretariat at Porvorim.

Earlier this week, Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant in consultation with the Revenue Ministry had constituted a Committee to carry out the task of finalizing the report on private forests.

Joint Secretary (Revenue) heads the committee and October 15 has been fixed as the deadline for the public to file the objections.

The affected parties can file their objections to the Joint Secretary (Revenue) in his chamber No. 105, on the second floor of the Secretariat Building at Porvorim.

Sawant, it may be recalled had assured the House to re-examine the issue of private forest in the State, as he has received a lot of complaints from people whose properties had been declared as forest land.
