The Margao Municipal garden came under the scanner of civil society, but for a different reason this time.
Unlike in the past, when the garden hogged the limelight over anti-social activities, including public drinking, the sprawling garden came under scrutiny after two private cars were found parked inside.
It is unclear how the private cars gained entry into the garden despite Sunday being a holiday.
Photos of the parked vehicles did the rounds on social media, with citizens demanding an inquiry by Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar and Administrator Srinet Kothwale and seeking accountability.
“The MMC should lodge a complaint with the RTO or traffic police to challan the vehicle owners for parking the vehicles inside the garden. The garden is certainly not a place for vehicular parking, and the paucity of parking space around the Margao Municipal building or garden cannot be an excuse for parking vehicles inside the garden,” commented a citizen.
