Public Works Department's (PWD) Principal Chief Engineer, Uttam Parsekar on Thursday said he has called for all official documents and files pertaining to the case of the controversial procurement of water tanks for distribution to the weaker sections over a decade ago.
The Goan had on Thursday reported the case of nearly 700 of these tanks lying at the PWD's yard in Sancoale reportedly for the last several years with the department unsure of what steps to take in the matter which has been a subject of multiple enquiries including by the State Vigilance Department as well as the Goa Police's anti-corruption Branch (ACB).
"I have asked the concerned engineer to gather all the details and material. I can react only after I get it and go through the subject matter," Parsekar said, when asked what the department plans to do with the tanks lying in the Sancoale yard.
Meanwhile, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas has said he would meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to resolve the issue of the 700 tanks lying idle at the Sancoale PWD yard, so that they can be put to good use.
"These tanks have been lying here for a very long time and despite my request, the PWD has not cleared the tanks from the yard. I am unsure of the quality of the tanks now but I will surely take the issue one step ahead and meet the CM who is handling the PWD portfolio,” said Vas.
“I will explain to him our concerns and try and resolve the issue so that the tanks are cleared or put to good use.”
