Kamat, however, said he does not want to go into the issue of shops erected on market drainage, saying the consultant will go into all aspects of the market before submitting a report.
The Minister paid a visit to the Gandhi market on Tuesday along with Margao Municipal Administrator Srinet Kothwale after his attention was drawn to water logging and rain water entering the houses of the local residents.
After inspecting the market, the Minister said a consultant will soon be appointed to go into the entire gamut of issues, including preparation of a plan to propose internal infrastructure in the market.
When the media drew his attention to shops and establishments on the market drainage, Kamat said he does not want to go into the issue of illegalities at this stage. “Let the consultant give his report on the entire Gandhi market including the internal infrastructure. The consultant will also prepare a report on the development outside the market,” he added.
Meanwhile, the PWD Minister interacted with citizens at the Margao Municipal hall and at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative complex as part of his Janata Darbar.
