Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) has decided to take measures to curb stray cattle menace in Quepem town.
QMC Chairperson Filu D'Costa said he will soon conduct a drive to identify and to resolve stray cattle menace.
It may be recalled that the stray cattle menace is a common problem faced by the residents of Sanguem, Curchorem and Quepem, as the cattle is seen on the road, creating obstruction for the people while commuting. The local bodies are yet to find a permanent solution to the stray cattle menace.
Speaking to The Goan, D'Costa said, “I have observed that the number of stray cattle is increasing and their unwanted presence is felt by the commuters on every road,” he said.
“It leads to traffic congestion and accidents. Hence, I have decided to conduct a drive against stray cattle. In the drive, the areas and places where these stray cattle sit will be identified and then stray cattle will not be allowed to create obstruction on main road,” said D'Costa.
