AAP on Sunday hit out at Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for “busy commenting sarcastically” while the defence of the country is being threatened by forces working against the country, calling for his replacement by someone more able.
AAP’s Goa Secretary and its candidate for Panaji Valmiki Naik, while stressing that he wouldn’t want to politicise the deaths of 17 soldiers, accused Parrikar of behaviour that was “unbecoming of the Defence Minister of the country.”
The comments come barely a day after Parrikar had passed sarcastic comments over Delhi’s Deputy chief minister being on a foreign tour when the Capital was witnessing a wave of 36 deaths due to chikungunya. Parrikar’s comments have come back to haunt him with a militant attack in Kashmir resulting in the death of 17 jawans.
“Continuous attacks by the militants against our security forces coupled with incidences of security paper leaks is a matter of grave concern for the nation… however, we have our Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar busy commenting sarcastically on the health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” Naik said.
He has demanded that the Prime Minister ask Parrikar to concentrate on the security of the nation or that he give the responsibility to someone more able and allow Parrikar to do what he does best -- passing sarcastic comments on local political issues.
Parrikar had to rush from Goa to Delhi in the wake of the terror attack cancelling all appointments.
