QMC votes for Nagar library
CURCHOREM: Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) on Monday resolved to bring Nagar library in Quepem town.
Speaking to The Goan, QMC Chairperson Filu D'Costa said Quepem town is all set to have its own Nagar library in Quepem Commercial Complex building.
“This idea of bringing Nagar library was of MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar. It will be helpful for students, seniors and readers,” he said.
“This library will have all sorts of books. It will also have advanced academic books which are costly and are useful for reference work for higher studies. In the premises, a photocopying machine will also be available so that students can take xerox copies,” D'Costa added.
When inquired further, he said books worth about Rs 10 lakh will be brought. Three shops will be allotted for the Nagar library. Department of Art and Culture will pay rent to QMC for utilising municipal shops, which will generate revenue for the council,” he said.
It may be recalled that officials from Art and Culture department had recently visited Quepem to inspect the premises of the commercial complex building, where the Nagar library is being planned.
