It may be recalled that some days back, Asifa Sheikh from Muslimwada-Quepem allegedly attempted suicide by hanging herself. Later, she died in Hospicio in Margao.
On Wednesday, Sheikh’s mother filed a complaint with Quepem Police accusing Shahidad Sheikh of abetting her daughter to commit suicide.
Speaking to The Goan, Quepem PSI Harish Raut Dessai said Asifa Sheikh died in Hospicio in Margao. “Sheikh attempted to commit suicide by hanging. She has two sons, four years and two-and-half years,” informed PI Dessai. The matter was handed over to Deputy Collector Shankar Gaonkar as the marriage of the couple had not completed 7 years. Police said acting on a complaint filed by Sheikh’s mother, Quepem Police conducted inquiry into the matter and later registered an offence against Shahidad Sheikh under Section 306 r/w Section 34 of IPC. PSI Dessai is investigating the case.
