Questions raised on govt borrowings, State’s rising debt

While the main opposition in Goa, Congress, remains silent on the Rs 24,000 crore debt that the State is reeling under, the party’s central leadership has taken the initiative to criticize the State government from Delhi for its indebtedness and tendency to borrow loans.

Congress Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Randeep Singh Surjewala has hit out at the Goa government’s huge debt and failure to disclose financial welfare assistance. 

In his tweet, the MP pointed out “The ills of a Defector’s Government!” stating, “BJP has made #Goa bankrupt. Unserviceable Debt of Rs 24,000 CR!, Alarming Unemployment!, Zero Development, Zero Welfare!, Staff Salaries Pending, Contractor’s Bills unpaid, Work Orders not issued !, Mission Commission is the motto!”

Congress media cell chairman Amarnath Panjikar had demanded a white paper on the ‘critical state’ of the financial situation and took a dig at the government ‘s borrowings.
