District Police chief, SP Sunita Sawant had to do a lot of answering on a host of unanswered questions on the murder of Bihar native, Kanahiya Kumar Mandal, including the mystery surrounding the CCTV footage of the Ponda police station.
Fielding a volley of questions on Kanahiya’s death, the Superintendent of Police has admitted that the CCTV footage is a crucial part of ongoing investigations. “The CCTV footage is getting analysed since it is part of investigations,” SP Sawant said, adding that even the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao is monitoring the ongoing investigations into the death of the Bihari native.
On the arrest of the truck driver from Khanapur-Karnataka for murder when his vehicle must have run over the body of the deceases, SP Sawant said the matter is under investigations.
When her attention was drawn to the post-mortem report which has shed light on injuries which are homicidal in nature, the police officer said, “At this stage, I can only say investigations is in progress.”
She repeated the answer again when it was pointed out to her that the arrested truck driver did not alight from his vehicle, but the post-mortem inquiry report shows injuries on the body of the deceased with sharp weapons.
