The Colva police are pinning their hopes on the arrival of a relative of the three persons found hanging dead at Varca on Sunday to unravel the mystery surrounding the episode, even as preliminary investigation by the police has revealed that the son was allegedly convicted in a dowry harassment case before his release on parole on December 14.
Colva PI Braz Menezes informed that the three member family comprising of mother, father and son were hailing from Kolar district of Karnataka and has reached Goa on December 26 by bus. “After we sent the photo of the son Manju via WhatsApp to the concerned police station, they stated that the accused Manju was convicted in a dowry harassment case and released on parole,” PI Braz said, while adding that the police are now hopeful of resolving the mystery after the arrival of a close relative of the family.
While the Colva police has almost established the identity of the three deceased, the police are baffled how the trio reached Varca and later decided to end their life by hanging. “All these questions will be answered only after the relatives of the deceased come down to the State on Tuesday,” PI Braz said.
The trio was found hanging dead from a tree, meters away from the Varca beach on Sunday noon. A local resident spotted the dead bodies.
