Rachol seminarians help Shiroda, Borda locals to sow paddy

MARGAOrr While the seminarians and the people were busy preoccupied with the sowing operations, Rector of Rachol seminary, Fr Alexio Menezes told The Goan that the sole reason behind cultivating the fields is to make good use of the land left behind by their ancestors and set a good example for others to emulate. r “If we cultivate the barren fields and grow even small plants and vegetables in our garden, we benefit a lot, both in terms of money and also by maintaining the greenery,” Fr Menezes said. “We have been doing this exercise for the last many years. This year, Fr Mario Souza, who was closely associated with the exercise, has gone to Majorda Church, where he has cultivated the fields there with the help of the Parish youth and parishioners. This is indeed a good new for all of us,” Fr Menezes said.rRemarked Rachol Seminary Administrator, Fr Ancy D’Cruz: “This is a happiest day for the Rachol seminarians and people of Borda, rRachol and Shiroda, who joined hands in the sowing operations.”r “We have joined hands as a family. The produce is used to meet our requirements and the rest is sold in the market,” he said, adding that fields are used for kitchen gardening after the harvest.
