Issues pertaining to house tax and garbage fees took centerstage at the gram sabha of the village panchayat of Raia.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Peter Quadros saw the gram sabha deliberating on the proposal to hike the annual house tax on houses with Mangalore tiles from Rs 100 to Rs 130.
The sarpanch later said the gram sabha has given the nod to hike the annual house tax from Rs 100 to Rs 130, a hike of Rs 30.
As far as the garbage collection fees is concerned, the sarpanch informed that the gram sabha has given approval to the panchayat to levy annual garbage fees amounting to Rs 200.
The sarpanch pointed out that the panchayat had proposed the garbage fees since the panchayat has been collecting dry waste from the households thrice a month.
