MARGAO: The gram sabha of Raia village panchayat on Sunday decided to appoint a contractor for the collection of wet and dry waste, besides diapers from the village.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Peter Quadros, the members also gave their approval for the budget estimates for the financial year 2024-25.
The sarpanch later told the media that a meeting will be called soon to discuss the implementation of the notified government rates for the purpose of house tax on commercial establishments and residential houses with Enabled House Numbers.
“The gram sabha has not taken any decision on this subject today. But, we will meet soon to take a decision on how to go about implementing the notified rates on commercial establishments and residential houses with EHN,” he said.
On garbage collection, the sarpanch said the panchayat is committed to engaging a contractor for the collection of door-to-door garbage, both dry and wet waste, besides diapers.
