Though the cyclonic storm has weakened into a depression over the Southern region that will move out into the Arabian Sea, Goa is expected to receive mild showers across parts of the State.
Cyclone Nada may have led to heavy rainfall along parts of Tamil Nadu and a weakened depression in Kerala, the remnants of the system will be felt in Goa too, with the Met department predicting a 25 to 55 per cent chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
“The weather system along Kerala is gradually moving out and once it crosses the Arabian Sea, it will feed a certain amount of moisture in the atmosphere. This will bring with it some rain that may be a drizzle for some parts of the State while other parts may receive thunderstorms,” said M L Sahu, director in charge at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa.
Temperatures are also expected to drop. The maximum temperature recorded at 33 degree Celsius is expected to reduce to 31 degree Celsius, while the minimum recorded 20 degree Celsius is expected to increase by one degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, rainfall for the post monsoon season that has also experienced a +1.1 mm increase from the normal for this season is expected to increase on Saturday. So far, the state has witnessed a post monsoon season total of 158.3 mm.
Minimum of 21 degrees and maximum of 30 degrees are expected to continue for the beginning of next week as Cyclone Nada moves towards Sri Lanka.
