As the skies finally opened up on Monday, Margao fire and emergency personnel were literally on their toes, incidents of uprooted trees crashing on houses and roads came in from Salcete throughout the day.
Margao Fire Officer Gill D’Souza informed that a tree came crashing down on the rear portion of a house at Novowado-Curtorim on Monday. The incident is believed to have destroyed property worth over Rs 25,000.
In another incident, a mango tree came down on a compound wall and road at Benaulim, causing loss of property worth Rs 2000.
The Fire Officer informed that a Gulmohar tree came crashing down on road opposite Santosh garage on Monday morning.
In yet another incident, the fire brigade rushed to Navelim to clear a jungle tree fallen on road near a car showroom.
