Rainbow Warriors allege corruption due to Sec 16 of TCP Act

PANAJI
The Federation of Rainbow Warriors on Saturday alleged corruption in the Town and Country Department (TCP) allowing change of land use zones under Section 16B of the TCP Act, 2018.
At a press conference in the city, the organisation claimed that by allowing changing of zones, ecologically sensitive land in Goa will diminish at the altar of inconsequential development.
Abhijeet Prabhudesai, the general secretary of Rainbow Warriors, alleged that in the 40 cases of land use zone change notified by the government earlier this month, over 70% are in forest, Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas, agricultural lands and in No Development Zones (NDZ).
He alleged that it has been done to aide a few builders which is an indicator of corruption in the TCP department.
Prabhudesai who was accompanied by the organisation's president Nelson Mascarenhas and assistant secretary David Rodrigues, also accused the TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai and members of the TCP board of malfeasance.
They demanded action from the State government against the alleged corruption.
