A dominating second half performance by Sporting Clube de Goa helped them register a 3-1 win over Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre in the Goa Football Association U-16 League match played at Don Bosco ground, Panaji on Thursday.
The young Flaming Oranje took the lead in the second minute when Rio Fernandes curled his free kick over the wall, which had no answer from the rival keeper. Sporting enjoyed better ball possession and attacked their opponents using the width of the pitch as Rio continuously played crosses in the box. However much to his dismay, his team’s strikers either shot wide or couldn’t keep their composure in front of the goal.
SAI Training Centre relied on the counter attacks and finally netted the leveller when Yash Kapse dribbled past a couple of Sporting defenders and also the keeper before coolly placing the ball in the far right corner, 1-1. The teams were tied 1-1 at
the break.
Crossing over, SAI’s Siddesh Mandage was sent off following his second yellow card offence, early in the second half. Having the numerical advantage, Sporting Clube netted two more goals through Brenan Rodrigues and Nash Camilo.
