The State government has issued an order appointing senior town planner Rajesh Naik as Chief Town Planner (Planning) effectively making him the senior most town planner in the Town and Country Planning Department superseding S T Puttaraju who will now be the Chief Town Planner (Land Use).
The same order has appointed James Mathew as the Chief Town Planner (Administration). A separate order has said that Puttaraju will hold additional charge of the post of Chief Town Planner (Planning) and Chief Town Planner (Administration) in addition to his own duties.
However, the post of Chief Town Planner (Planning) will be the most powerful post in the department, and it is expected that Puttaraju will be clipped of his additional charges especially CTP (Planning) who it is expected will be offered to someone else.
Keeping in tune with the recent amendments to the Town and Country Planning Act, the government has created posts for three Chief Town Planners in the TCP Department but has ensured that, for now, current chief Town Planner S T Puttaraju will hold all three posts.
On October 30, this year, the government appointed Chief Town Planner S T Puttaraju as Chief Town Planner (Land Use) in the TCP department while on that date had made him hold additional charge of the post of Chief Town Planner (Planning) and Chief Town Planner (Administration) in addition to his own duties.
