Rajnath Singh to inaugurate Patradevi Hutatma Smarak on August 25

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday announced that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the newly completed Hutatma Smarak at Patradevi on August 25.

The work on the Smarak has been completed on a war footing. The project was undertaken by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) at a cost of around Rs 4.9 crore to honour Goa’s freedom fighters and martyrs.

Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had laid the foundation stone for the Smarak.

The redesigned Smarak features a central monument, murals, sculptures and dedicated galleries highlighting Goa’s liberation movement, including the history of the Satyagraha movement and the sacrifices of martyrs and activists.

The Smarak is aimed at offering visitors a deeper understanding of Goa’s freedom struggle and preserving the contributions of those who fought for the state’s liberation.
