Ranatunga: Lankan cricket is run by gambling family

I think you need to be positive which I did. Nobody expected us to win the World Cup (in 1996) but we created a lot of new ideas, new things. By doing that, we could get to the top. And even in politics, I adopt most of the cricket theories. So it has helped me politically as well.

They are good cricketers. But when I rate, (Aravinda) he is far, far ahead as the best batsman created in our country.

It is not a decline. We did not play well. We were expecting performances from the seniors. And when the two seniors (Sangakkara and Jaywawardene) retired together, it was not very comfortable. So that is the reason why we are struggling. It will take a little time but we will bounce back.

Nothing. Because, I do not get involved as cricket is run by our board president who is from a gambling family. They are the ones who run cricket in Sri Lanka. So it is unfortunate.

I do. I have my own private thing. So once a month, I go on vacation and promote cricket in rural areas.

There are lots of intelligent people in this world and they know how to protect (the interests of the game). Test cricket is ultimate and people are realising that. So let us wait and see.

It is entertaining but not for technique. Batsmen will lose their technique subsequently.

If you are committed for cricket, committed for the country, you can go anywhere.
