Rane should get FIRs against Melauli villagers withdrawn: GPCC

PANAJI
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee said that it is people’s power that has compelled Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to write a letter to the Chief Minister demanding scrapping of the proposed IIT project in Sattari.

“The Health Minister had no other option, but to stoop down before the united villagers of Sattari. The unfortunate part is the Health Minister took a U-turn only after local women faced police atrocities,” GPCC President Girish Chodankar stated.

The GPCC said the Health Minister was now in a face-saving mode and was demanding withdrawal of FIRs against some of the villagers.

“We want the Health Minister to prove his mettle and get the FIRs withdrawn in the next 24 hours. Let Rane ask for intervention of Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw the FIRs,” Chodankar said.

He said, “We are now looking how the defective, insensitive and corrupt Chief Minister reacts.
