Former Bicholim MLA Pandurang Raut said since last 15 years, Bicholim constituency instead of developing has gone backward to 25 years, as not a single MLA after him could develop it properly due to lack of vision.
He was addressing a news conference at Ayodhya-Bicholim as the alliance candidate of Goa Praja Party, which has been formed by him and recently formed Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM).
“All the development projects, except some which one could see in Bicholim now were the projects planned and constructed during my tenure as Bicholim MLA and a minister,” said Raut.
“During my tenure, I had acquired about 5,000 sq mtrs of land for construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Housing Board, Bicholim and had also got approved the proposal of raising standard of Bicholim Primary Health Centre to community health centre, the extension work of which was also undertaken behind old PHC building,” claimed Raut.
“However, after me not a single MLA attempted to continue the said proposal, due to which Ravindra Bhavan was shifted at Sakhali and CHC at Valpoi,” said Raut.
He said by giving good justice to his different portfolios as minister in the past, he had prepared good master plan for Bicholim, gave preference for doing away water, power and road problems, constructed bypass roads at different places to have good network of roads, also planned to bring big industries in Bicholim taluka, constructed KTC bus terminus, started deputy collector's office, deputy superintendent of police office, RTO office, weights and measures office, constructed educational institutes like Shivajiraje High School in remote areas like Sal, gave about 500 jobs to the people free of cost.
“After me, no body tried to continue the development as planned by me, due to which Bicholim taluka instead of developing has gone backward to 25 years since last 15 years.”
He has requested the voters to give him an opportunity to continue the works undertaken by him in the past.
Balasaheb Paldesai, Yeshwant Gauns, Hanumant Padelkar, Yeshwant Pal and Govind Awakhale were present for the news conference.
