BICHOLIM
Congress leader Meghshyam Raut has threatened to lead an agitation outside the residence of Speaker and local MLA Rajesh Patnekar to protest against a flooded road at Dhangar Wada in Adwalpal-Bicholim.
Locals claimed that the main road and bridge at Dhangar Wada has been flooded, making it difficult for them to travel along the route.
Mukund Korgaonkar said the low lying area frequently gets flooded with heavy rains, cutting off the route and vehicles are unable to cross the bridge.
Sympathising with the residents, Bicholim Block Congress President Meghshyam Raut said: “We will agitate outside Patnekar’s house if work on the bridge and road is not undertaken at the earliest.”
Meanwhile, Patnekar told reporters that Rs 1. 47 crore has been sanctioned to widen the road at Dhangarwada.
"Everyone has the right to agitate in a democracy, but this should not be done for political mileage,” said Patnekar.
