Reading of minutes take 3 hrs, curtains in South comes down in wee hours of Friday

Curtains on the controversial Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) public hearing for South Goa came down only in the wee hours of Friday.

While the public hearing had concluded at 11.46 on Thursday night, reading of minutes of the hearing is believed to have consumed lot of time, around three hours to be precise.

South Goa Additional Collector-II Surendra Naik informed that the hearing finally concluded at 3 am on Friday morning. “Curtains on the entire public hearing process finally came down at around 3 am on Friday. It was only after the reading of the minutes of the meeting that the process finally ended”, he said.

Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, leader of Goenchea Ramponkarancho Ekvott Olencio Simoes, Capt Viriato Fernandes of Goencho Avaz, Fr Bolmax Periera and members of Goencho Ekvott and others were present at the venue when the authorities were reading the minutes.

The minutes were read in Konkani and the entire process ended at 3 am. 

Olencio Simoes is believed to have raised a couple of queries over the points missing in the minutes.

He later told the media that the South Goa district Collector, Ruchika Katyal, IAS told them that they can submit their points to the GCZMA till July 15. Olencio claimed that the Collector further said that people who wish to make their written submissions can do so till July 15.
