CANACONA
Amid political buzz over a reshuffle in the Cabinet, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar has said he is ready to take on any role assigned to him by the BJP party.
However, in the same breadth, Tawadkar said he has achieved more people-centric work as speaker than during his tenure as minister.
Answering to a specific question from media queries on Saturday over speculations that his name is being considered during the likely reshuffle of the Cabinet, Tawadkar responded by saying, “I am ready to accept any role in the cabinet given by my party.”
“All along the way, I have been an obedient and loyal soldier of the party, ever willing to follow party directives from the time I was a MLA in the opposition. When in the ruling, I became a minister in 2012, and now I am Speaker.”
“Moreover, I am more than happy to say that I could bring in more people-centric work as a Speaker than in the past as a minister and there is cooperation from all around, be it among sarpanchas, panchas, party leaders and affiliates.”
Incidentally, Tawadkar later hinted that a Number 2 cabinet post or Dy Chief Minister in the Cabinet would be very ideal for his position and went on to explain that more than himself, his dedicated Karyakartas wanted him in the cabinet with a better position and rank.
