Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that he is looking into the “labourgate” scam and that “if the need be”, he will forward the file to the Anti Corruption Branch of Goa Police for investigation.
“I have asked the labour department to process the file and send it to me. If the need be, I will forward it to the Anti Corruption Bureau,” CM Sawant said while speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat in Porvorim.
It may be recalled that a week ago, the Lokayukta had recommended a probe by the ACB in what is now being dubbed as the “labourgate”. It has been alleged that irregularities have occurred in disbursal of funds earmarked for distribution to Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) and that these funds were allegedly granted to fake beneficiaries who did not fulfil the criteria.
