Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes distributed saplings in Canacona and called for developmental plans of the civic body.
Fernandes in collaboration with Zonal Agriculture Office, Canacona had distributed saplings in Canacona on Saturday, requesting municipal residents to grow more plants and make Canacona greener and cleaner.
Fernandes had already distributed saplings in panchayat areas of Agonda, Poinguinim, Loliem-Polem, Gaondongrim and Khotigao earlier. “By growing more trees, we help ourselves as it helps us to breathe pure and cleaner air, besides helping us to receive sufficient rains,” Fernandes said.
Fernandes, while speaking at the brief plant distribution function, took on the council for not approaching him on developmental works. “The development in this council’s last four years is almost a nought. You all
had kept me at a distance by not informing me any of your needs or proposals. May be your political compulsions compelled you’ll to do so, but the results are for all to see, as nothing is achieved. I request you to bring your plans and proposals to me and I assure you to get government sanctions. I am always open to your approach,” Fernandes told the CMC Chairperson Nita Desai.
