While police investigations are underway into the nature and cause of the boy's death, the family has strongly suspected that the boy had been murdered and has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
The distraught mother told The Goan that her son had been playing near her stall at the Saptah Fair when he disappeared.
"My son never leaves me, but he was moving around the stall looking at toys and playing around. I was busy selling items at the stall when I realised he was not around and alerted my sister. We went looking for him all over the fair. Since he was nowhere to be seen, we filed a missing report at the police station," said the sobbing mother.
Added the boy's uncle: “Though the police is looking from different angles, we are sure that he was killed. We want the police to initiate a thorough enquiry and take strict action against the culprit.”
The boy's aunt said CCTV footage had revealed that the boy was seen moving around a juice centre stall along the main street of the fair and was last seen at about 6.15 pm.
"The police deployed their teams to find the boy and were checking CCTV footage at night and he was seen playing around another juice stall near our stall.”
“We searched for him everywhere and assuming that he must be asleep somewhere, we tried asking everyone who was awake and even woke up a few stall operators all through the night. We finally went home at around 5 am only to get news of his death in the morning," said the boy's aunt, who was also distraught.
