Reflective belts tied on stray cattle in Pernem

In an attempt to curb road mishaps caused by stray cattle, a youth from Panishkarwada-Pernem has taken an initiative to tie reflective belts around the necks of stray cattle to prevent road mishaps at night.

Vikramaditya Panshikar has tied fluorescent reflective belts around the necks of stray cattle which are loitering on the main roads in Pernem.
Speaking to The Goan, Panshikar said their group has started the initiative from December 2016.
"With the help of my friends Sandeep Haldankar and Rajendra Samant, I tied reflective belts around the necks of about 300 stray cattle that were loitering along the NH17 at Pernem. Now, we have also made special reflective belts for stray dogs," he added.
r />"We have undertaken this initiative by spending money from our own pockets as noble social activity. We don't do this for publicity, but we are saving the lives of motorists," said Panshikar.

Powers back with mamlatdars for deciding tenancy cases

The Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed the Goa Agricultural Tenancy (Amendment) Bill 2017, which revokes the amendments made by the previous BJP government to shift the tenancy cases from the mamlatdar to the courts of the senior civil judge.
