The recently developed area near St Francis Xavier Church at Harbour is being used by miscreants engaged in anti-social activities.
The development of the area with seating arrangements was done by MLA Milind Naik in association with MPT and a road was connected to the area so that senior citizens who were otherwise forced to use huge steps across the hill to reach the Church can attend mass and the feast of seafarers.
The locality, housing Rashtroli Temple besides St Francis Xavier Church, has religious importance. However, the area is being used as a sit-out for the consumption of alcohol and sometimes other anti-social activities at night, irking locals.
"The road at this religious place is for palkhi of temple and processions of the church. Youth drink alcohol and urinate all over and the place has started to stink. Police should patrol the area and penalise the errant with huge fines," said a resident, Anil Kankonkar.
Another resident Ravindra Pinge said: "Youth drive fast, stay here till the wee hours and play music. We hope there is no casualty some day."
