Remanded workers granted bail
BICHOLIM: The eight workers of Sesa Goa Mining Company Employees Union (SGMCEU), who were remanded to 14 days judicial custody by JMFC Bicholim, have been released on conditional bail by a court in Mapusa.
Speaking to local reporters, Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar informed that the eight arrested workers had applied for bail at the Sessions Court Mapusa on Tuesday and it was granted on Wednesday evening.
It may be recalled that a group of some workers on December 7, allegedly assaulted a worker, Jagdish Arondekar while he was returning home from work. Arondekar, who had been on strike for last many days along with other workers, had rejoined work. Following the assault, the victim and the company had filed a police complaint with the Bicholim Police.
