Pop singer Remo Fernandes has expressed his inability to attend the summons issued to him by the Agassaim police citing a pre-planned trip abroad, but has however said that he will be represented by his lawyers at the hearing.
In a terse statement released to the media, Fernandes said that he has very urgent work and meetings in Europe.
“I am in Europe to attend to some very urgent work and meetings. This trip was planned months ago, and the ticket was booked on 17th August 2015. My lawyers will be attending court tomorrow on my behalf of course,” Fernandes said in his statement.
A case has been booked against Fernandes for allegedly verbally abusing a minor girl who was knocked down by his vehicle which was allegedly being driven by his son, with Remo in the car.
The incident took place on December 1, at the Guirim junction while the pedestrian, a 17-year old pilgrim girl was on a walking pilgrimage from Deobagh near Malvan towards Old Goa for the feast of St Francis Xavier.
The girl’s condition is said to be stable.
