Rent-a-car collides with private car in Mopa, locals confront tourists

PANAJI
In yet another road mishap, a ‘rent-a-car’ belonging to a police constable collided with a private-registered car in Mopa. The accident occurred on Friday while a video capturing locals confronting the occupants of the ‘rental car’ “ allegedly tourists “ went viral by Saturday morning.

Mopa police said that the car bearing registration number GA-07-N-7249 was subsequently taken to the police station after the locals and the taxi operators demanded action. They alleged that the vehicle was being illegally rented out to tourists.

However, the Mopa police stated that the car was driven by the cop’s brother to drop their relatives at the airport when the accident occurred. Both the cars were partially damaged. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

“We have registered a case of accident,” an officer said, denying allegations that the vehicle was rented out.
