SANGUEM
Work to repair the damaged portion of the main road between Sanguem and Dando junction began near the Sanguem police station on Tuesday, with the PWD covering the damaged portion with concrete as a temporary measure.
The PWD had dug the road in April to lay a water pipeline but had not repaired the damaged road and this had caused hardships to motorists along the route.
Upset over the damaged road, a group led by Sanguem Councillors Meshu D’Costa and Sangameshwar Naik resorted to a road blockade agitation at Sanguem.
The agitation was withdrawn after PWD officials assured to repair the damaged portion with concrete as a temporary measure as hot mixing could not be undertaken due to monsoons.
On Tuesday, PWD began the work to repair the damaged portion and officials said the work is expected to be completed within 4-5 days depending on the rains.
Councillors Meshu D’Costa and Sangameshwar Naik thanked the PWD officials for honouring their promise and beginning the repair work.
