Sopte intervenes after Pernem locals stopped at Kiranpani check post

PERNEM

Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte has stated that people from Pernem taluka will be allowed to travel to Maharashtra via the Kiranpani-Aronda check post after necessary checks.

Several people from Pernem had complained that while people from Sindudurg were allowed to enter Goa, people from Goa were not allowed to cross over to Maharashtra via the Kiranpani-Aronda check post for the past few days.

The agitated locals reported the matter to Sopte and told him that entry should either be permitted or restricted from both sides.

Sopte then visited the Kiranpani-Aronda check post on Tuesday and interacted with authorities in Sawantwadi and Aronda Sarpanch Supriya Parsekar. It was later decided to allow entry for people from both states

"According to the court order, those who have been fully vaccinated are allowed entry without any conditions and yet, people from Goa were being stopped and not allowed to enter Maharashtra via the Kiranpani-Aronda check post. I've requested Sindhudurg authorities to open the check post and no one will be denied entry if they meet with the required conditions,” Sopte told reporters.

Aronda Sarpanch Supriya Parsekar claimed that new health workers had come for health checks at the check post two days ago and were not aware of the revised rules.
