Repair work on Borim Bridge to be taken up on weekends: PWD min

Saying that that the government is waiting for the hearings to conclude on the new High level Borim bridge, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat has said that the government priority for the moment is to repair the existing bridge.

Saying that repair work on the Borim bridge will be carried out during the weekend from 8 pm to 8 am on Saturdays and Sundays, Kamat, however, said that traffic will ply as usual on the Borim bridge on Sunday in view of the Narkasura competitions scheduled on Sunday on the eve of Diwali.

“Work on the Borim Bridge will be carried out on top priority. The agency appointed to execute the work has started the repair work on the bridge. The work will be executed on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 pm to 8 am to ensure that people face minimum hardships”, he said.

Asked to shed light on the status of the new high level Borim Bridge, the PWD Minister said the PWD has completed the process, including land acquisition. “Since some hearings are going on in the courts, we will take up the work as and when the cases are disposed of. But, the PWD is ready to start the work since the formalities including land acquisition has been completed”, he asserted.
