Republic Day parade: Goa’s tableau prepares to shine
A skilled team is currently working on the tableau at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp, Delhi Cantonment.

The fabrication of Goa’s tableau, set to be showcased at the Republic Day cultural parade on January 26 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, is progressing rapidly at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp, Delhi Cantonment.

The tableau is being conceptualised and designed by renowned Goan artist Sushant Khedekar from Ponda. The fabrication work began on 26th December 2024 at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp. A dedicated team of 30 Goan sculptors, artisans, fabricators, carpenters, and other professionals, led by Khedekar and Purnanand Paidarkar, is working tirelessly to complete the tableau by 22nd January 2025. So far, 50% of the work has been completed.

This year, Goa will present a vibrant float on the theme “Swarnim Bharat...Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India... Heritage and Development), showcasing the state’s rich culture and progress. It will be a proud moment for all Goans as their tableau makes its way to the grand parade on Kartavya Path.

After a gap of two years, Goa’s float has been selected for the prestigious parade, which includes entries from 15 states and union territories, along with 11 ministries and departments of the central government. The parade, watched by millions across the country, also follows the theme “Swarnim Bharat...Virasat aur Vikas”.

The Goa tableau, displayed under the Department of Information and Publicity, was selected after a series of evaluations by an expert committee formed by the Ministry of Defence. The committee assessed the theme, concept, design, and visual elements before approving Goa’s entry.

This year, the tableau’s music has been composed by Dr Saish Deshpande, and the live dance performance will feature a team of artists led by Dinesh Priolkar. The choreography is by Nishad, while the costumes have been designed by Sangeeta and Avani Khedekar.

Following the Kartavya Path parade, the Goa tableau, along with others, will be displayed at Red Fort as part of the Bharat Parv celebrations from 26th to 31st January 2025.
