GOACAN has called for extension of time to submit objections and suggestions to the final
draft of the Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2016, by 10 working days.

It may be noted that the final draft of the rules were first put on the website of the Department of Urban Development (Municipal Administration) on August 22, 2017, and were published in Goa Government Gazette on August 24, 2017 (Series I No. 21 pages 1245 to 1278) with the notice that objections and suggestions should be submitted within 10 days of the publication date.
In a letter to J Ashok Kumar, IAS Director - Directorate of Municipal Administration & Ex-Officio Additional Secretary (Urban Development) to Government of Goa, GOACAN has welcomed the placing in public domain of the final draft of the RERA Rules for Goa as required under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 ( Central Act 16 of 2016) as this legislation will have a significant positive impact on the protection of the rights of the consumers in Goa in relation to real estate projects and related matters.
In the letter, GOACAN has pointed out that in fact the main purpose of providing time to submit objections and suggestions to the final draft rules is to encourage healthy participation from all stakeholders in Goa.
However, after the draft rules were published in the Goa Gazette August 24, 2017, the intervening holidays for Chaturthi have reduced the time period for filing the objections and suggestions.
