Porvorim
The Tika Utsav 3 in the Porvorim constituency witnessed a good response and around 335 beneficiaries received the doses of vaccine.
However, there has been strong resentment among the residents that the Porvorim local Mandal is giving a political colour to the Tika Utsav 3.
While the latest edition of Tika Utsav 1 and 2 was held without any political branding in a majority of the places in Goa the Porvorim BJP Mandal and BJP karyakartas have put up a huge board at the entrance of the vaccination centre at Succor panchayat stating “I am Vaccinated. Are You?” with a BJP symbol prominently displayed.
This is even though the Tika Utsav is a centrally sponsored programme, which is hosted by the State government.
What was striking is that the usual sight of the Chief Minister’s picture was absent from the hoarding. A special selfie booth was also created with BJP symbol behind it so that every click can be a branding of the political party.
One of the beneficiaries mentioned to The Goan under anonymity that the over-enthusiastic BJP workers at Socorro seem to have crossed all the lines to brand its party during the central government paid Tika Utsav 3 program.
"Porvorim constituency is represented by Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte and not BJP MLA. Interestingly it is learnt that such hoardings were missing in the majority of the places in Goa after opposition parties objected to it. How come most vocal Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have remained silent over this issue?" questioned the beneficiary.
