Residents demand speed breakers, traffic police at Consua junction

Cortalim MLA to hold meet with govt officials today

Cortalim MLA Anton Vas has convened a joint meeting with government officials concerned on Saturday to discuss preventive measures at the Consua Junction, following the death of a 61-year-old man in a road mishap at the site on Friday.

Upset over the fatal mishap, several residents and Panch members from Velsao and Cortalim Panchayat who were present along with Vas at the site demanded that speed breakers be installed at the Consua Junction and they even suggested a traffic signal or traffic police in the area to prevent further road mishaps.

Speaking to residents, the Cortalim MLA said he had rushed to the site on hearing news of the accident.

“The Consua Junction is a very dangerous junctions and people have been demanding a speed breaker and a traffic signal in the area for many years. I will convene a joint meeting of all government officials concerned on Saturday morning to discuss the issue. I will immediately put up a proposal requesting speed breakers and a traffic signal in the area as a preventive measure,” said Vas.
