A 61-year-old man was killed while his son was injured in a road mishap at Consua Junction along the Verna highway on Friday morning.
According to sources, the incident took place as Francisco D’Silva of Bellem-Velsao was going to attend a retreat at the Consua Church along with his son Aaron (30) on their scooter.
“They were moving on the Verna highway towards Verna side. As they reached the Consua Junction and was trying to move towards Consua, a person Soma Gawas (40), a native of Maharashtra but residing at Zuarinagar, riding a motorcycle struck their bike from behind and both Francisco and Aaron fell on the road. At the same time, a goods carrier rickshaw was also proceeding in the same direction towards Verna side and Fransisco came under the rickshaw and died on the spot. Aaron also suffered injuries on the leg and was shifted to the hospital but is out of danger,” said the source.
Verna police have registered a case and is carrying out further investigation.
