The management of Resort Rio has denied any association with the Big B Casino in Arpora, after the casino was sealed by the North Goa Collectorate over non-payment of fees amounting to Rs 14 crore. In a statement, the Resort Rio management categorically stated that “Big B Casino and its owner, Chitti Babu Ghanta, have no ownership, partnership, management, operational, or financial association with Resort Rio.”
“Resort Rio has never been involved in the running, decision-making, or business affairs of Big B Casino in any manner. Big B Casino had only leased a limited portion of the premises from Resort Rio under a commercial lease arrangement. This relationship was strictly that of lessor and lessee and should not be interpreted as any form of association, collaboration, or joint operation,” the management stated.
“It is further clarified that Big B Casino and its owner currently owe Resort Rio outstanding dues amounting to several crores of rupees, which remain unpaid despite repeated reminders and follow-ups. These dues arise solely from contractual obligations under the lease agreement.”
Resort Rio has rejected any attempt to link the resort with the activities, liabilities, or disputes of Big B Casino, adding that any such linkage is factually incorrect, misleading, and damaging to the reputation of its hospitality establishment.
