The South Goa district magistrate has ordered closure of all restaurants, bars, tea and pan shops, eateries and other food shops/joints situated in the jurisdiction of Municipal Council area, by-election to 16-Navelim ZP and by-poll to village Panchayats of South Goa located within 200 meters of the polling stations from 06.00 hours to 21.00 hours on the day of poll on March 20.
By the same order issued under section 144 of the CrPC, District Magistrate Surendra Naik has ordered ban on gathering or crowd comprising of more than five persons within 200 meters of any polling stations in the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council areas, Navelim ZP area and the by-polls to the village Panchayats of South Goa on the day of poll.
The order has warned of penal action under section 188 of the IPC and other relevant provisions of laws in force in case of violations of the order.
Meanwhile, in another order issued under section 144 of the CrPC, the district Magistrate has ordered closure of all licensed premises for the sale of liquor in the jurisdiction of Municipal Council areas, by-election to the Navelim ZP seat and by-election to the village panchayats of South Goa from 17 hours of March 18 to till 21 hours on March 20 and from 08.00 hours till end of counting of votes on March 22.
