Retired district judge Anand Salkar passes away

Retired District and Sessions Judge (South Goa) Anand D Salkar passed away after a brief illness on Friday.
He had a distinguished judicial career spanning more than three decades in the Goa Judicial Service.
Salkar began his career as a Civil Judge and served in various judicial capacities across the State before being elevated as the District and Sessions Judge, South Goa. During his tenure in Margao, he earned a reputation for his legal scholarship, meticulous handling of cases and commitment to the timely and fair dispensation of justice.
Even after retiring from the judiciary, Salkar continued to serve in several public roles, including as the acting chairperson of the Goa Human Rights Commission. He had earlier also served as a member of the Commission following its constitution.
He is survived by his two children, advocates Anjali Salkar and Anuj Salkar, both practising lawyers.
