With most restaurants closed on Monday, food outlets and home delivery services came to the rescue of Holi revellers in the port town.
According to sources, several food delivery outlets were flooded with orders which were delivered to customers at their homes.
“Most orders consisted of vegetarian meals, as many Vascokars follow a vegetarian diet as a mark of respect to local deity Lord Damodar. We had many non-vegetarian orders as well. We had to work extra hours on the weekend on account of pre-booked orders,” said a person managing a food delivery outlet. “The imposition of Section 144 came as a blessing in disguise for our business, as we had bulk orders to cater to, with most orders being biryanis and chicken dishes. We had some orders for continental dishes too.”
“We took extra care and delivered food at the doorsteps of our customers. We ensured contactless delivery where food was placed at the doorstep and money was taken on an online platform, with clients having a choice to return utensils the next day,” he added.
A resident, Gaurish Desai, said online food delivery was the best option.
“We have the entire family assembling during Holi and while we usually have restaurants open, this year we thought of getting bulk orders booked online.”
“It is easy, convenient and saves time. We had ordered a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes that were delivered to us and the entire family and friends of our building got to eat together, after spending half a day enjoying Holi.”
“The best facility was that we even got at our request some dishes for children to be less spicy. Ordering online has been a blessing in disguise for us this Holi,” said Desai.
