The Directorate of Transport meanwhile has said that the deadline to fix digital fare meters for taxis registered in Goa had having registration numbers ending with 2 or 3 is August 18.
Eight locations across the State have been designated "fitting centers" to fix the digital meters which must be equipped with printer, automotive tracking device and emergency systems.
The fitment of taxi meters is a long-pending issue over which the taxi operators have been at loggerheads. With the pandemic raging in the country and the State, the operators have been calling for postponement of the fitment of the digital meters. The Transport Minister recently said he was aware of the plight of the taxi operators.
